Relative Humidity : High or Low, Humidity Can Cause Health Problems

Humidity and the air we breathe in can impact our health and comfort in more ways than one. High or low humidity that is relative to the current temperature of our surroundings can produce certain effects that we have to manage or overcome.

Otherwise it can alter indoor air, as well as create adverse conditions inside our homes. This is particularly true in homes where there is poor ventilation or inefficient air conditioning systems.

Understanding the Concept of Humidity

First off and before going further, it should be clear that humidity refers to the amount of water that the air holds. This denotes that if the air holds too much water, the humidity is high. Conversely, if there is little water in the air, the humidity is low.

How Does Low or High Humidity Affect Our Health

If there is low humidity, there is less water vapor in the air, which can change the moisture level of air we breathe in. Lack of moisture can dry skin, lips, throat, the mucous membranes and also our hair. As this happens, we tend to experience discomfort such as experiencing itchiness and chapping.

Lack of moisture in arid regions could also cause hyperventilation in the body, which in turn can lead to respiratory illness; or worsen the condition of people with existing respiratory disorder. In colder regions where the body is unable to sweat, too much moisture retention can make that body susceptible to colds and other forms of respiratory illnesses.

Low humidity levels and cold temperature can make the body feel inner chills even when wrapped in warm clothes while in a heated environment.

In the same way, elements we use in our home can be affected by low humidity because lack of moisture can cause wood materials to warp, wallpapers to shrink, peel and loosen. All of which can create gaps where molds and mildew can settle once the humidity level increases.

When temperatures are high and the relative humidity is high, whatever water vapor carried by the air tends to evaporate rapidly. Those are the conditions in which warm outside temperature can cause indoor humidity to condense and turn into water. Indoor water condensation can be seen on window panes and glass panels, which in turn lowers the moisture level of indoor air when indoor humidity increases.

High indoor humidity results in low air moisture that affects our body’s ability to cool itself. That is why such conditions cause discomfort, particularly to people suffering from asthma or heart problems. In severe cases, high temperature and relative high humidity can cause heat stroke.

In order to keep moisture levels at comfortable levels, household use dehumidifiers and/ or Heating, Ventin, Air Conditioning or HVAC systems.

Too much water condensation inside homes and buildings create conditions that promote mold growth and pest infestation. The air feels clammy, surfaces become moist, while the odor becomes musty; conditions that allow fungi and insects including the microscopic dust mites, to flourish inside enclosed areas.

If allowed to exist in homes or enclosures for long periods of time, those harmful organisms pose as additional causes of health problems because they bring in all sorts of bacteria and  allergens.

In South Florida for example, particularly in Boca Grande where outdoor temperature and humidity level is high most of the time, the kind of professional carpet cleaning boca grande folks require, often involves the use of steam equipment and strong cleaning materials and disinfectant.

That way, occurrences of spores, mold and/or mildew growth as well as pest infestation, can be arrested or eradicated as soon as possible.

How To Be Healthy Without Spending Too Much

Spending a maximum of 60 euros a week and still living a healthy life, that was the challenge that Brussels MP Hannelore Goemand (SP.A) set himself last week. This as a result of the news that one in three people in Brussels have to make ends meet with that amount for all expenses – from food to relaxation and extra costs. But is healthy eating really more expensive than junk food?

Is It More Expensive To Eat Healthy?

To empathize with the one in three Brussels residents who have to pay 60 euros per week for all expenses, SP.A politician Hannelore Goemand tried the same for a week. Difficult and confronting, the politician told Het Nieuwsblad. “I underestimated it.” In order to save enough money to pay for all the costs, she mainly went back to canned foods and prepared meals in the store. The perception is that healthy eating is simply more expensive. The result: poorer health among people with a low income, the politician suspects.

“Healthy food not unhealthier”

Yet healthy food does not have to be much more expensive. A study by the British Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) about which De Standaard writes shows that healthy food should not necessarily mean an attack on your wallet. For example, skimmed milk is cheaper than full-bodied milk, and the healthiest cereal is often the cheapest because no sugar or special flavors are added to it, so it sounds. The researchers even conclude that healthy food is generally cheaper.

Looking for another cheaper way to become healthy. Make sure your dishes are all clean and germ-free with one of the best dishwashers under 700.

Pumpkins, carrots, and chicory from the market

How can you lower the price of healthy food? Goemand received a tip from followers on Facebook to buy fresh fruit and vegetables on the market, instead of buying stereotyped cans and frozen preparations in the Aldi. Winter vegetables such as pumpkin, carrots, and chicory were also tipped, which are now the cheapest. Carbohydrates such as pasta, bread, and potatoes are not very pricey, the IEA writes in his research. Meat and fish are more expensive, but you better consume them in moderation.

Poverty and health

The fact that people from lower social classes who have to live with little is unhealthy does not necessarily have to do with the price of healthy food. The IEA does state that it takes a lot of effort and energy to know what is healthy, while those living in poverty already have a lot of stress and headaches. It is therefore very difficult to generate the energy to find out what is healthy and what is not. Going back to prepared food because it saves time and is easy, just a little faster. Also for sports, there is little budget left for lower social classes, resulting in a healthier lifestyle.

What Is The Health Promoting Effects of Fruits & Vegetables?

Fruits and vegetables contain many important nutrients. They are considered particularly health-promoting.

Better Health: Fruits and Veggies

Vitamins and minerals

People cannot live without vitamins and minerals. They are necessary for the building of cells, blood cells, bones, teeth. And they perform important tasks in metabolism and in the interaction of nerves and muscles. Vitamin A, for example, is important for eyesight, vitamin D for calcium absorption and healthy bones.

Because the human organism cannot produce vitamins and minerals itself, they must be ingested through food – especially vegetables and fruits that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Dietary fiber

Dietary fiber is almost exclusively found in plant-based foods. The plant fibers are not or only partially digested by humans. High-fiber foods cause a long satiety effect and thus make it easier to maintain or reduce body weight. In addition, they stimulate intestinal activity and thereby promote digestion. Symptoms such as constipation, hemorrhoids and diverticulosis can be prevented in this way.

In addition, high fiber intake lowers the cholesterol concentration in the blood and has a beneficial effect on blood sugar levels. A high intake of fiber can help reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, type 2 diabetes mellitus, colorectal cancer and fat metabolism disorders. The German Nutrition Society therefore recommends 30 grams of fiber per day as a minium for adolescents and adults.

Secondary plant substances

Fruits and vegetables are colorful, they taste and smell good. The so-called secondary plant substances contribute to this. Only in recent years have scientists recognized their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. They are also likely to lower your risk of cardiovascular and certain cancers.

Around a hundred thousand phytochemicals are known, including polyphenols. Of course, polyphenols are present in plants. They are not vital nutrients, but they have antioxidant properties. Since polyphenols are not an absolutely necessary part of our diet and their health benefits are still being discussed, there are currently no official recommendations on how much of them should be eaten daily. Only for olive oil (contains hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenol) is the claim that it helps to protect blood lipids from oxidative stress. This beneficial effect is obtained by consuming about two tablespoons of olive oil (20 g) a day.

Be careful with raw sprouts and seedlings

Fresh sprouts and seedlings are high in fiber, provide vitamins and protein. They are particularly popular as an ingredient in salads. However, they can be contaminated with bacteria. Eating sprouts and seedlings raw is therefore not fully recommended, according to the Bavarian Consumer Center. “It is possible that the seeds are already contaminated in the countries of origin. Germs can also grow during production and storage, ”explains Sabine Hülsmann from the Bavarian VZ.

To reduce the germ load, you should wash raw sprouts thoroughly before consumption and use them up quickly. They can be kept in the refrigerator for a day or two. People with weak immune systems (pregnant women, children, and seniors) must stay away from eating raw sprouts. Thorough heating, however, safely kills bacteria. Basically, sprouts of legumes must be blanched in boiling water in order to inactivate unwanted plant substances.

How much fruit and vegetables do Germans eat and how much should they eat?
The actual consumption of fruit and vegetables per head and year is on average 200 kg. The DGE recommends eating 237 kg per year. At first glance, our consumption of fruit and vegetables doesn’t seem that bad.

But if we take a closer look, we have to find that of the 200 kg, 120 kg is fruit (60 percent) and only 90 kg is vegetables. The DGE recommends only 91 kg of fruit per person per year. The opposite is true for vegetables, 146 kg of vegetables are recommended.

How non-profit associations work

Types of non-profit organizations
Social cooperatives, on the other hand, have as their goal the general pursuit of the community for human promotion and social integration of citizens, including social and health services and educational services for disadvantaged people.

Then there are the NGOs (non-governmental organization) that very often carry out activities of support in the missionary world or more generally they deal with cooperation with European, national and international institutions.

With regard to social promotion associations, it can be defined as associations in which individuals associate to pursue a common purpose not of a commercial nature.

Finally the Foundations of civil law and of banking origin and the social enterprises that deal with are to be mentionedsocial assistance , health, social health, education, education, environmental protection and cultural heritage, university and extracurricular training and social tourism (according to l.118 / 05 made organic by legislative decree 155/06 ).

How non-profits are formed
The bodies that make up the non-profit world, therefore, differ substantially in their structure, distinguishing themselves by type and legal status . From a fiscal point of view they can then be divided into non-commercial entities, commercial entities and non-profit organizations.
Interesting is the data according to which today, in Italy, non-profit companies are up by 28% compared to 2001 data. The staff of any non-profit association and organization is made up of the President, the Board of Directors and the Shareholders’ Meeting.
The former is responsible for the management of the organization and the activities planned and voted for by the Board of Directors or by the shareholders’ meeting, but cannot make any decision alone; the president can be defined asa legal representative body of the association.

How non-profit organizations operate
To actually manage and manage the association is the Executive Council which not only promotes activities but represents the executive body with real decision-making power. It is usually, but not always, made up of three members: the President, the Vice President and the Secretary.

The most important task of the Board of Directors is the care of economic affairs, through the management of the association c. Last but not least, there is the Shareholders ‘Meeting formed by all the member members registered in the special members’ register and in good standing with the payment of the insurance fee; they always have the right to participate in the decisions of the institution, at least once a year when not extraordinarily requested, in a special Assembly convened by the Board of Directors.

The Assembly also has the power to decide on the election of the Board of Directors, to manage the destination of the surplus or deficit , to approve the annual program of activities and the accounting statement.

Accounting and account management of non-profit organizations
For non-profit organizations, account management is therefore of vital importance for their survival and development. Due to the difficulty of management , in recent times, non-profit organizations are increasingly relying on expense management tools : among these, there are prepaid cards. This type of card allows each member of the association to make payments and make purchases on behalf of the organization based on its savings fund.

In this way, not only are transactions facilitatedbut it is easier for the non-profit organization to keep all expenses under control, perhaps even assigning a prepaid card to each different mission so as to be able to manage the budget in a completely personalized manner.
This tool is also easy to manage, because the card can be quickly recharged by transferring the funds through special recharges made manually or set as periodic and automatic.

The possibility of exporting the data of expenses and transactions in the most common formats means that even the management of the accounting of the non-profit organization is fast, efficient and always monitored.

Non-profit organizations: what are they and how do they work?

Today it is not uncommon to hear about non-profit organizations or associations .

The expression refers immediately to the term profit ; but is it really possible to think that someone works and is committed without gaining the ultimate goal ?

Not only is it possible but it happens often and in various forms.

In Italy, today, non-profit companies have increased by 28% compared to 2001 , so much so as to induce a real reform of the third sector this year .

Therefore, in recent years, the non-profit sector has undergone a strong impulse which must, however, necessarily correspond to a qualitative growth of its services.

What are non-profit organizations?
It is not easy to provide an exhaustive definition of what non-profit organizations are.

First of all, it should be specified that non-profit organizations are part of the Third sector , that is, of that sector to which institutions and organizations belong, which are located in an intermediate position between the market and the State.

The not-for-profit name has Anglo-American origins and derives from the union of ” non ” with the name ” profit ” and is therefore used to indicate those organizations that operate without profit , that is profit and that are characterized by having as their objective the common good .

This does not mean that the entity does not generate any financial gain in any way: even the non-profit association can produce an asset, but the substantial difference with the other entities is that this gain does not translate into profit, that is , it is not distributed among the members of the association itself.

Therefore, the money raised is set aside and reinvested to finance the activities of the same body, to achieve its primary objectives .

Most of these are entities that pursue altruistic intentions and are dedicated to activities of public utility and relevant in various sectors such as cultural, scientific, welfare, research or environmental.

How many types of non-profit organizations exist?
It must be specified that different types of non-profit associations can be traced . We will try to clarify, taking into consideration two of the main subdivisions.
